An invitation to let down the defenses that prevent people from laughing - a workshop led by Jamie Wood.
"We try very hard all the time to not appear idiotic, what would happen if we stopped trying?" It will lead participants through a series of exercises and provocations connecting body, voice, imagination and play. With the other workshop participants as audience, we will explore what a live and constantly evolving relationship can look and feel like if we listen closely and openly. Often in relationship to others we have formed defensive behaviours to keep us safe. These patterns may also prevent people from connecting to us deeply, and in terms of comedy, may also prevent laughter. The aim of this workshop is to create a supportive atmosphere of play which encourages participants to open up and share themselves fully with each other. This workshop is for performers and non-performers. People interested in laughter, play and connection with others. Min age 16. Please wear loose comfortable clothing. Although clowning can be fun, it can also be challenging to be confronted on old patterns of behaviour. Some people may find this difficult. |
